Moon Newbill

Moon Newbill is a singer, songwriter and stage wrecker from Washington, D.C. Hailing from a family of musicians and visual artists, her four-octave vocals have been heard in the DMV, Atlanta and NYC tri-state area singing funk, rock, classical, jazz and blues with various eclectic musical units. Built around four personal songs, her “Come Through Mother” EP is a musical vehicle that allows her to navigate a contemporary landscape of language, love and loss. Singing over a bed of Afrofuturistic grooves culled from machines, ambience generators, and musicians, Moon’s songs deal with feminine God energy, reincarnation, broken promises, and battles against apathy and reactionary thinking, and her music reflects her origins in the D.C. underground alternative rock/soul scene during the early 2000s. Within a two-year span, Moon graced the legendary Howard Theatre and City Winery. She was also nominated for Washington D.C.’s MusicianShip Wammie Award for her EP. Working on new gritty, and more funky material, Moon is definitely an artist to watch.
